Does money buy happiness and a longer life? You decide...
by Brock Talon ini poured over time magazine's sep 8-15 2014 edition article "who we are" and put together this spreadsheet on the results from their poll.
i found the statistics quite fascinating.. most people would say that "money doesn't buy happiness", but this poll seems to me to indicate the exact opposite of that.
it also correlates education levels with higher earning that result in that happiness.

Sleep Paralysis - YOUR EXPERIENCES
by Black Man inso what have been your experiences with sleep paralysis?
any connection to astral projection?
this has interested me recently as i used to have sleep paralysis quite often years ago.

Separation of Powers
Grandmother used to talk openly with us about how the "demons" used to hold her down and she would fight and wrestle but to no avail. Only years later did I realize that she suffered from sleep paralysis and whatever "demons" she experienced were in her mind.

My appeal was successful. Now what?
by noonehome infaders: why do we bother staying in?.
we cling to some false hope that people we love will accept us despite our not believing, even though its as much a fairytale as the dogmas based on untruths.. ive never been anything but a good friend and human being and would do anything for the people i love; i couldnt dream of shutting out someone i care about.
and its not like theyd revel in the idea of doing it either, yet its seen as not just the only choice, but also as undoubtedly the right thing to do.

Fortunately you are in a better position now. Be very careful however as the disfellowshipping body will have a bone to pick and someone or all will be looking for something to ratify their previous decision. No appeal committee ever likes to overturn the previous decision unless 1) they think the disfellowshipping body is a bunch of baffoons or 2) the lack of judgment is so egregious that there is no alternative. That being the case, I would imagine the second is the reason. You are now in the right, and they, in the wrong. You have the capability of claiming that they are harassing you if they start putting you and what you say under a microscope.
I think Terry sums it up well, you must have quite a delivery. Good for you.

JW.ORG REPORTS THE WATCHTOWER RESPONSE TO EBOLA
by NAVYTOWN ini just checked the jw.org website and noticed an article about the jw response to ebola.
as i suspected, the entire focus was on alerting and educating jw members about ebola.just like in other disaster situations, the jw organization almost exclusively assists it's own members, ignoring the general public.
it seems their main concern is keeping their members healthy so they can continue to spread the jw message door to door!!!

Separation of Powers
The fact that they only help "their own" is another aspect that draws people in. When the world is crashing around you and you realize that nobody but the Red Cross is helping the general population but the JW's are getting help from their people, you may well see the need to become a JW.

TV.JW.Org - Streamed to KHs via the New Projectors
by passwordprotected ini read here recently that the khs are being instructed to buy and install projector systems.. now that we've seen the launch of of tv.jw.org we can fully expect public talks to - on a monthly basis at least - be replaced by content streamed from the site to the screens in khs.. .

The KH where I live has purchased and installed theirs. The big screen is up. Can't wait to see how well things go at the Regional meeting in November in the US. It will be a sign of things to come.....

Early Evidence for 1 John 5: 7
by Perry initalic 4th and 5th century.

429 in the 14th century (margin).

I appreciate your research Perry. There is also considerable research that demonstrates the spurious nature of 1 John 5:7. The ORG is not the only religion that rejects this passage. Most scholars agree with them is this regard for a reason.

NEW WATCHTOWER society image vs. CLASSIC
by Terry inon the 100th anniversary of coca-cola, the company's marketing division made a bold move.. trends in the sales of coke were headed in the wrong direction.
competitors were eating away.
at the soft drink market once dominated by coca-cola.

Good analogy and comparison Terry.
@Sir82- I agree, the effect is not the same. But, one can only hope that the outcome is.

A Nice Story.
by Wrath of Jehu infriends.. i'm sure you will all be encouraged by this nice story related to me by a brother in my old congregation.
4 year old "jana" (not her real name), is from a witness family in a middle sized city.
she has faced many challenges in her pre-school class.

Separation of Powers
Sounds a lot like my personal experience, but I was three at the time and finishing primary school with my sights on Oxford or Cambridge. You probably remember the article where they interviewed me for my stand against saluting the flag. I recall I said the following,
"I can not adulterate myself by prostating before an image that by all intents and purposes is an idol. Like the faithful young men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, it doesn't matter if you were to take hold of me and cast me into a fiery furnace, a conflagration capable of turning me into ash before I touched its lick of flame, I will not yield to your request. I am a worshipper of the Most High and to him alone I will bend the knee!"
I apologize if my word usage was not perfect at the time, but please remember...I was only three. I recall my pronunciation of Abednego was not perfect at the time, but my teacher understood me. I don't believe my fellow students did....they were all watching Barney the Dinosaur.

100 yrs + 1000 yrs = 1100 yrs of Kingdon Rule ?
by Smiles indoes anyone one else have a problem with the celebrating '100 years kingdom rule' (1914-2014).
while at the same time teaching that the kingdom will rule for 1000 years?
(rev 20:6).

Separation of Powers
Always has this problem with the mathematics of the whole thing. Asked my dad, "Well, if Jesus started ruling in 1914, isn't that part of his 1000 year reign?"
his response, "Doesn't matter. Eat your broccoli."

Strange situation
by Gorbatchov inhi folks,.
the rank and file is now in a strange situation.. it is clear that the jw leadership is in for a huge change.
the type / anti type change makes clear that they make a u-turn.. it's clear that with this changes the current doctrine are temporary.

Separation of Powers
@ Watcher Unfortunately YOUR reality is not THEIR reality. As Gorbachov so eloquently puts it
" It's clear that a truth that can be a untruth tomorrow is no truth."
If you claim to be a witness, then by default you are expected to believe ALL the truths as explained by the ORG. That is what association with a cult implies. That being the case, if there is a God and he is the ultimate judge, he will judge you based on your being a Witness. There is no middle ground. You identify yourself as such, so you will be judged as such. THAT is one of the main reasons I have stepped away from the absurdity. Many will claim that people who leave are arrogant cause they don't accept the direction. I say, many who leave are humble cause they can not accept falsehoods taught as truth. They can not close their eyes to the arrogance of the leadership. They can not close their minds to what is logical and understandable.
